WHO I AM
I have lived in Oldham County for over twenty years with my
husband Gordon and our three rescue dogs: Maddie, Bear and Ruby.
I grew up in a middle-class family in New Jersey, and spent
my summers working on a local farm, picking blueberries alongside migrant
farmworkers. My family moved to Kentucky for my father’s job when I was a
junior in high school. I graduated from Oldham County High School, and then
went on to attend the University of Louisville with degrees in art and
mathematics. After college, I married and followed my husband to Indiana
where he was attending graduate school, but always knew I would come back to
My actuarial career began in Indianapolis with a life
insurance company, but I eventually settled into health insurance with Blue
Cross Blue Shield of Indiana, which grew into Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. I
spent 26 years in various positions at Anthem, and eventually became Senior
Vice President, Chief Actuary & Chief Risk Officer. In that role, I oversaw
actuarial activities in all of Anthem’s markets across the United States, with
employees in over 25 states.
But there is more to me than business. I have a passion for
helping children, and have been active in Big Brothers Big Sisters since 1990.
Over the years, I have mentored three Little Sisters, served on the Oldham
County Advisory Council, and am currently the Vice Chair of the Board of Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana. In fact, I remain active in the life of my
most recent Little Sister, who is now 27 years old.
